How to request account deletion
You can delete your account directly from within the app:
- Open the 1st Alert app on your device.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Delete My Account.
- Choose a reason and confirm your request.
30-day grace period. After you submit a deletion request, your account enters a 30-day grace period. You are signed out of the app, and anyone who has you as an emergency contact is told straight away that you are no longer available to them. During the 30 days you can sign in again and cancel the request — either from the banner shown on the app's home screen, or by going to Settings → Delete My Account and choosing Keep My Account. Cancelling does not put you back in other people's contact lists; they would need to add you again.
What is deleted
If you do not cancel within 30 days, an automated job permanently deletes the following from our systems:
- Account information (name, mobile number, profile photograph, preferences)
- Authentication records and login identity
- Health information — medical conditions, allergies, blood group, and related details
- Medications, medication schedules, and reminder history
- Emergency contacts you have added, and your entry in other people's contact lists
- Your emergency (SOS) records, including their location trails and call records
- Uploaded prescriptions and documents
- Insurance information, uploaded insurance documents, and insurance quote enquiries
- Notifications in your feed
- Health camps you submitted, and the private record of who submitted them
- Your Alert ID, your devices and push tokens
- Our record linking your account to an Apple purchase
- Stored preferences and settings
After deletion, your mobile number may be used to register a completely new account, with no connection to, and none of the data from, the deleted account.
If an automated deletion fails part-way, some of your information may be removed while the rest remains, and your sign-in may still work. At present a failed deletion is not retried automatically and you are not notified. If you believe your deletion did not complete, email founder@1stalert.in and we will complete it manually.
What is retained
A few things are kept after deletion. We list them plainly:
- Payment records for payments made through Razorpay — plan, amount, transaction identifiers, coupon, and your User ID. Kept as financial records; we do not currently delete them.
- A record that the deletion happened — the date and the steps completed, filed under your User ID. We do not currently delete it.
- Your name and mobile number in other people's emergency records, where you were alerted as their contact during their SOS. Those records belong to them.
- Notifications in other people's feeds that mention you, including missed-dose alerts naming your medicine.
- Health camp photographs you uploaded. At present they are never deleted.
- An internal security counter — a count and a time, under your User ID.
- Server logs and crash reports containing your User ID, kept for the retention period of our provider (Google).
We cannot delete messages already delivered to other people's phones. Full details are in section 22 of our Privacy Policy.
